Was the Norton option on the client or the server? I am experiencing a similiar problem, which I'm thinking is partially firewall-related. It's a WinNT4/Sp6a server running RAS. A local Win2K server can create a successful VPN connection, but I cannot with a Win2K Pro at home. It hangs on the verifying username and password stage and I CISCO VPN client connects using IPSEC and has no PPTP options. I've tried recreating th connectoid to same effect. The symptom is the connectoid hangs on "Verifying User Name and Password", as I said remove the CISCO VPN client and it works just fine. This thread is locked. Can't connect to Always On VPN. The connection was prevented because of a policy configured on your RAS/VPN server. Specifically, the authentication method the server used to verify your user name and password may not match the authentication method configured in your connection profile.
